Boston College Graduate School of Social Work

The Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) is one of the professional schools of Boston College. This school is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. GSSW is central to Boston College’s mission of social justice. School offers the following degrees:

Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is one of the schools accredited by the Council on Social Work Education that offer online programs.
Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) offers full and part-time programs leading to the Master of Social Work degree, with concentrations in Clinical and Macro Social Work Practice. PhD degrees, as well as continuing professional education are available.

The full-time study program includes 2 years of full-time study in residence. There are also part-time study programs.

Part-time students usually fulfill the degree requirements in either 3 or 4 years. Part-time students can attend the Charles River campus, or attend one of the two off-campus programs. The off-campus, part-time program in Northeastern Massachusetts is located in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. Boston University School of Social Work offers Dual Degree programs in cooperation with other BU graduate schools and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Work.

The School of Theology, the School of Education, and the School of Public Health have dual-degree programs with the School of Social Work.

The dual degree programs include:

  • a 3½ year course of study leading to both the Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of Theological Studies,
  • a 4½ year course of study leading to both the MSW and Master of Divinity (MDiv),
  • a course of study that leads to both the MSW and the Doctor of Ministry (DMin),
  • a course of study that lead to both the MSW and Master of Education (MEd) or Doctorate in Education (EdD),
  • a 3 year course of study leading to both the Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of Public Health (MPH).
